(BT PR) Rita Wilson has released her new single "Jury of One," the latest offering from her forthcoming new album Sound of a Woman dropping on May 1st. A heartfelt and relatable track, "Jury of One" acts as a love letter to women navigating the pressures of doing it all, and the guilt that often comes with it. The single comes alongside the official music video featuring scenes filmed at Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, New York.
The most visionary and revealing work to date in her ever-evolving musical cannon, Sound of a Woman was co-produced by Rita and nine-time Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton) and recorded at the historic RCA Studio A in Nashville.
With Sound of a Woman, Rita explores the arc of a woman's life as part unfiltered memoir, part nuanced observation of the world around her. The album moves beyond gender bounds and cuts to the raw truth of the human experience, while providing moments of catharsis, reflection, and unabashed joy along the way. A revelatory excavation of the self, Sound of a Woman bears a sonic depth that fully matches the scope of Wilson's soul-baring songwriting.
Discussing "Jury of One," Rita says: "To this day, it's so hard to devote my attention to something without feeling guilty about all the things I'm not doing. Especially if I'm giving my time to something creatively satisfying, I feel guilty about not taking care of a particular job or being there for someone who might need me. So many women tend to apologize when we haven't done anything wrong, and I think that partly comes from feeling like we could always be doing more. I've gotten better at communicating my needs and protecting my time, but I still find myself apologizing for things I shouldn't be sorry for. Apologizing can become habitual and sometimes we do it to keep the peace, because it's easier than standing up for something you believe in."
