(117) Singer, actress and Broadway star Katharine McPhee is the next artist to join the late Dan Seals for a newly reimagined version of "The Healing Kind," releasing June 5. Pre-save "The Healing Kind" here.

Written by Gregg Luck and the late, great Ronnie Bowman, "The Healing Kind" appeared on Seals' 1995 album, In A Quiet Room. Swallowing his pride, Seals recognizes the loss he feels over a broken relationship and the sorrow he can't seem to shake. This sentimental, nostalgic track empathizes with those who know the pain of heartache.

"Singing 'The Healing Kind' was both emotional and beautiful. Dan's voice and spirit are still so present in the music, and I'm honored to have been part of keeping that legacy alive," says McPhee.

McPhee is most widely known for her successful run on Season Five of FOX's American Idol, earning the runner-up spot and winning over America with her soaring vocals. Following the show, she starred in multiple television series' including Scorpion (CBS), SMASH (NBC), and Country Comfort (Netflix), developed by top Hollywood executives including Stephen Spielberg. McPhee has released five studio albums, with her prominent, self-titled debut record earning No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart in 2007. The Melody Place recording artist also made her Broadway debut in 2008, playing the lead role as "Jenna" in Waitress, and later originated the role in West End's major production. She is spending time in Nashville working on new music coming soon.

"The Healing Kind" will appear on the forthcoming album, Dan Seals & Friends: The Last Duet, releasing August 28. With collaborations from fellow country artists Blake Shelton, Jamey Johnson, Luke Bryan, and many more, the project will honor the late Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Famer and the undeniable impact he left on the music industry.
