(Warner) Rising country singer-songwriter Wesko shares his brand new acoustic Familiar Spirits EP out now via Warner Records/underscore works recordings. Listen here.

The four-track collection spotlights his plaintive songcraft, poised storytelling, and powerful vocals all at once. The opener "Hunting Ghosts" pairs vulnerable vocal delivery with gentle finger-picking as he confesses, "I've grown used to feeling lost and trying to drink my way through it. It's been a downhill slide." Airy echoes give way to a tender refrain, "So I spend my days wasting away and my nights hunting ghosts." Then, there's the alternately intimate and bold "Seneca Guns." His vocals rest atop delicate chords, and he wonders aloud, "Can you hear it? Those Seneca Guns." Paying homage to the tradition of heartfelt and hard-hitting Heartland songcraft, he delivers an emotionally charged cover of "I'm On Fire" by Bruce Springsteen. As an avowed fan of "The Boss," he does the track justice with his own incendiary and irresistible rendition.

As a whole, Familiar Spirits is an honest reflection of who Wesko is as an artist and as a man. It conjures the kinds of real life experiences and unshakable emotions.

Regarding the EP, Wesko commented, "The Familiar Spirits EP is a collection of dark storytelling songs that paint a picture of the areas in someone's life that you typically don't hear much in a body of work, or in commercial music. Some of the stories will feel familiar to some, the cover is indeed a familiar song that's loved by so many, and the EP as a whole has something for everyone. Loss of a lover, grief, trauma, and reckless desire; all Familiar Spirits that could lead you wrong if you let them."

Wesko notably preceded the project with the release of "Lies," a track that clearly highlights the hard-learned truths and plainspoken wisdom of his songwriting. He's the kind of lyricist who cuts to the core with just a few words, holding nothing back and sharing relatable stories rooted in the reality of the working class American experience.

The country troubadour capped off 2025 with the HOLD ON EP. The standout "Pretend" has amassed nearly 1 million total streams so far. Last year, Wesko also released a pair of tracks which became immediate fan-favorites; "Mr. Tennessee," and "Use Some Carolina," claiming real estate on Spotify's Next From Nashville playlist among others. Holler Country described him this way: "If Megan Moroney is the self-styled "Emo Cowgirl" then Wesko, hailing from Kenansville, NC, might just be her cowboy counterpart."
