(fcc) This past weekend, three-time Grammy Award-winning superstar Tim McGraw concluded his summer Pawn Shop Guitar Tour in West Palm Beach, FL following a summer-long run of 33 shows across North America.
The country star spent the recent months delivering hits to venues across the country with support from 49 Winchester and Timothy Wayne-including 3 massive stadium shows at Hersheypark Stadium (Hershey, PA), Target Field (Minneapolis, MN) and the famed Fenway Park in Boston, MA. The special stadium events featured additional performances from The Chicks and Lady A.
Packed crowds throughout the summer landed the Pawn Shop Guitar Tour on Pollstar's Top Charts, debuting on both LIVE75 and Global Concert Pulse, as well as gaining "Hot Shot" status as the touring headliner with the highest-ranked debut on the chart.
This very special run of shows saw Tim open up and share more of his life with fans than ever before, offering moments of reflection and gratitude alongside his biggest hits. The show uniquely featured a full-band unplugged set that showcased tremendous musicianship and instrumentation on stage-intentionally turning the massive venues into intimate experiences that transported fans to the feel of a small Nashville club where Tim got his start. During the second act, Tim and the band exploded into the fully electric, larger-than-life production that fans know and love.
In what became some of the most memorable moments of the summer, Tim honored the spirit and namesake of the tour each night by selecting one lucky young audience member to receive a guitar he chose from a local pawn shop. The heartfelt gesture of Tim passing along the gift of music to his young fans, encouraging them to follow in his footsteps, became a highlight at each show.
Pawn Shop Guitar Tour saw a myriad of additional unforgettable moments over the weeks including Lady A (at Hershey Park) and The Chicks (at Fenway Park) coming out to join Tim on "I Like It, I Love It," Tim throwing a football with NFL legend Jim Kelly in Buffalo, NY and Tim's daughter, Audrey McGraw, joining him onstage in Jones Beach, NY to sing "Stronger," a favorite from her mother Faith Hill's catalog. The tour encapsulated McGraw's 35-year career and legacy with a mix of nostalgia, the huge anthems he's known for and first-time performances of two of his newest songs "Pawn Shop Guitar" and "Song for America."
Looking ahead, Tim continues a busy year with his prestigious induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame this fall, as well as 6 more live shows to round out the year-including 5 nights at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV and headlining the Hondo Rodeo Fest on at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.
Praise for the Pawn Shop Guitar Tour: "The musical arc was generous, dynamic, and deeply effective, proof that McGraw's best songs still gain meaning when placed in conversation with one another. On the Pawn Shop Guitar Tour, he did not just revisit where he has been; he made the case that the songs still know how to travel, even through rain, memory, recovery, and time."
