Speaking on the forthcoming EP, Edwards said, "The High Times EP is my first cohesive and intentional music project as an artist. Each song in the High Times EP corresponds with the cycles of grief after breaking up from a loving romantic relationship. From anger to acceptance, these are the emotions I felt the year leading up to recording, and wanted to capture and express these feelings the best way I know how-writing and singing them. I hope you enjoy this emotional roller coaster of an EP!"
High Times, recorded at the renowned FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, seeks to showcase the importance of "getting real musicians in a space, capturing real stories." Steeped in authenticity, the project showcases Edwards at both his sharpest and at his most vulnerable.
Kicking off the EP, "Ain't All Roses" details the sting of being left behind when love alone isn't enough to make someone stay. Driven by vibrant, traditional country instrumentation and Edwards' signature raw vocals, the song confronts the realization that love isn't always as simple, or lasting, as it seems:
