(Anchor) British-born, Nashville-based country-pop artist Twinnie captures the unexpected thrill of falling for a longtime friend on her new single, "Old Friends," out now. The release accompanies the announcement of her forthcoming album, Dirt Road Disco, arriving February 2027.
"You've always been there like an extra in the background / But since you kissed me, darlin', swear that you're the star now," Twinnie sings, capturing the moment friendship takes a romantic turn. With its playful perspective on unexpected chemistry, "Old Friends" explores what happens when someone who has always been part of your life suddenly becomes the one you see differently.
The forthcoming album follows Twinnie's ambitious 22-track release Something We Used to Say, which NPR recognized as one of the best albums of November 2024. Rooted in country storytelling while embracing pop influences and theatrical flair, Dirt Road Disco reflects Twinnie's genre-blending approach and fiercely independent artistic identity.
The announcement arrives during a standout year for the artist. Her August single "Wild One" reached No. 3 on the UK iTunes Country chart and No. 9 on the All-Genre chart, surpassing 125,000 streams and earning UK radio support. The track also entered the Official UK Country Singles Chart Top 40. Earlier this year, "Midnight Company" landed in the Top 5 on Apple Music UK's New Music Friday alongside Dua Lipa and Charli XCX, with additional playlist support from Spotify's All New Country and Pandora's Top Country Hits.
This summer, Twinnie performed at London's Crystal Palace Park in support of Alanis Morissette and appeared at the Isle of Wight Festival alongside Calvin Harris, Teddy Swims and Rita Ora.
Twinnie will continue that momentum into 2027 with her recently announced "Gypsy Heart Tour," featuring four UK headline dates:
