(fcc) Ahead of their new album release, BLACKPINK has once again proven their unparalleled global presence by becoming the first artist in the world to surpass 100 million YouTube subscribers.
According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's official YouTube channel exceeded 100 million subscribers at approximately 7:31 PM (KST). This marks the first and highest milestone achieved by any artist worldwide, coming roughly 9 years and 8 months after the channel was launched on June 28, 2016.
Notably, the growth accelerated after promotions began for their third mini album [DEADLINE]. Since the album announcement video released on the 15th of last month, the channel has gained an average of 10,000 new subscribers per day, reflecting the heightened global anticipation for the group's upcoming musical chapter.
On YouTube, a platform that continues to reshape the global music industry, subscriber count is widely regarded as an indicator of a dedicated and loyal fanbase. Despite already being firmly established as one of the world's top groups, BLACKPINK's fandom continues to expand at an impressive pace.
Previously, in July 2020, BLACKPINK became the first non-English-speaking artist to enter the Top 5 in YouTube subscriber rankings. They went on to surpass global pop stars including Ariana Grande, Eminem, Ed Sheeran, Marshmello, and Justin Bieber, eventually rising to No. 1 among all artists worldwide in September 2021, a position they continue to hold to this day.
Their view counts are equally dominant. To date, BLACKPINK has produced 50 videos with over 100 million views each, while their official YouTube channel has amassed a cumulative 41.1 billion views. These achievements have earned them official recognition from Guinness World Records as the "Most Viewed Band on YouTube."
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK will release their third mini album [DEADLINE] on February 27 at 2 PM (KST). The five-track album includes the title track "GO," along with the pre-release single "JUMP," "Me and My," "Champion," and "Fxxxboy." YG stated, "True to its title, [DEADLINE] will be filled with 'irreversible peak moments' and showcase 'the most radiant and defining present of BLACKPINK.'"
