Watch Mez's Video For 'Platinum Fubu' Featuring Umi
(PR) GRAMMY-nominated artist, songwriter, producer, and director Mez shares the music video for "Platinum Fubu," featuring UMI. The track, released September 9 via Mass Appeal, appears on his forthcoming debut album, Electric Future Gangster.
Produced by D. Phelps, Mez, Chris Payton, and LDG, "Platinum Fubu" explores the uncertainty of a relationship without a label. Mez reflects on leaving past relationships behind while questioning where a new connection may lead, with UMI offering the other perspective. Between references to Carolina summers, Hollywood relationships, and the nostalgia of the song's title, the record centers on a question neither person can quite answer: What are we?
"Platinum Fubu" follows "Still Loading," offering another look into Electric Future Gangster, a project shaped by Mez's experiences across music, filmmaking, entrepreneurship, and relationships.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native first gained widespread recognition for writing on 14 of the 16 tracks on Dr. Dre's Compton and later appeared on Dreamville's GRAMMY-nominated Revenge of the Dreamers III. His directing work includes J. Cole's "Middle Child," videos for Ari Lennox, Isaiah Rashad, and SiR, and commercial projects for Jordan Brand and Nike.
