(Warner) 2X GRAMMY-nominated, Diamond-certified superstar Teddy Swims releases "Mr. Know It All (Live)," a stunning full-band version of the inescapable single that just hit Top 5 at Top 40 Radio. The song hails from Swims' forthcoming album UGLY, out January 22 on Warner Records, and arrives amid his U.S. arena run, The UGLY Tour.
The UGLY Tour has been racking up rave reviews since launching in Kansas City on September 22. The set is a love letter to Swims' hometown of Atlanta, opening on a history-rich intro voiced by Killer Mike and revealing multi-level stage design that incorporates the city's iconic skyline and various landmarks with personal meaning to Swims.
"Mr. Know It All (Live)" is a welcome reminder of Swims' jaw-dropping vocal command and his band's impressive dynamism. He's joined on the track and in the accompanying visual by Freak Freely, his backup singers, plus a string quartet, as they bring to life the deceptively breezy hit song about the pain of romantic self-sabotage. Swims is surrounded by sound - pizzicato strings, raw guitar, warm bass, crashing drums - as he sings his heart out.
Released in April, "Mr. Know It All" signaled the start of a new chapter for Swims and was followed by the vulnerable single "Break Up in Reverse," and last month, he shared "Perfect Man," a soul-baring anthem about the impossible standards we set for ourselves and learning to find strength in our imperfections.
All of that has been setting the stage for what's ahead: Swims' highly anticipated second album, UGLY. Reuniting with frequent collaborators like Julian Bunetta, John Ryan, Ammo, Afterhrs, Mikky Ekko, Matt Zara, Kendrick Nicholls, Alex Izquierdo, and Tommy King, among others, Swims wrote UGLY over the last 15 months since his son was born and the set serves as an outlet for self-reflection and growth as both a man and father.
