(Atom Splitter) German rockers Future Palace are thrilled to share the video for their dynamically different new single "SUPERNOVA." Once again, the band proves that post-hardcore is not a label with limits but a space full of creative possibilities with this track. The band took some sonic chances and the result is nothing short of stunning.
"Musically, 'Supernova' was an experiment," explains guitarist Manuel Kohlert. "Writing the track started with an angelic voice sample that was heavily glitched with a program. The upbeat feeling and intensity breaks unusually, not into a heavy part but into an acoustic guitar bridge with sing-along type vocals. The outro features a groovy breakdown that closes the track with lots of energy. Compared to other Future Palace tracks, this one feels unusual at first, yet there still is a catchy chorus as most of the times."
Singer Maria Lessing concurs, saying, "'Supernova' is a really special and different song for us. Already, the instrumental had a very experimental energy when I listened to it for the first time, and I decided to lean even more into this energy while writing the vocals."
Pulling back the curtain on the powerful and relatable subject matter, Lessing continues, "Lyrically, the song talks about humans that act so heartless that they lose their human form and turn into a 'homunculus.' The world is currently in a very brutal state and it's hard to find hope in humanity a lot of times. It's hard to understand how so much anger and lack of empathy can be inside someone. The song is supposed to convey this really unsettling feeling and unhuman energy. Also the struggle of finding hope and being scared of losing that last spark of it."
