Don Henley's 'The End Of The Innocence' Set For Special Reissue
(UMe) As the Eagles continue "The Long Goodbye" tour with upcoming performances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and stadiums, Universal Music Enterprises has announced a vinyl and digital reissue of Don Henley's 6x platinum solo album The End Of The Innocence on June 5, 2026.
The album is newly remastered from the original analog tapes and will be available as a 2-LP set on 180-gram vinyl for the very first time. The remastered audio will also be available on the same date for streaming and digital download.
Henley originally unveiled his third full-length solo record, The End Of The Innocence, on June 27, 1989. It debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and went on to become his best-selling solo album. Among many highlights, the album boasts staples such as "The Last Worthless Evening," "The Heart Of The Matter," "New York Minute," and the title track. In the wake of the release, he received a 1990 GRAMMY Award in the category of "Best Rock Vocal Performance Male" for "The End Of The Innocence." Henley notably helmed the album as a producer, with guests Bruce Hornsby and Axl Rose joining for memorable collaborations on "The End Of The Innocence" and "I Will Not Go Quietly," respectively.
Best known as co-founder of the legendary rock band, the Eagles, as well as an influential solo artist, Don Henley has maintained an extraordinary commitment to music and various philanthropic efforts throughout his career, including a dedication to environmental issues and artists' rights. As founder and chairman of The Walden Woods Project, Henley has long worker to preserve the physical and philosophical legacy of Henry David Thoreau. Established in 1990, the organization led a successful campaign to protect nearly 200 acres of threatened land surrounding Walden Pond and has since become a national leader in conservation and environmental education.
Henley recently served alongside Ken Burns as executive producer for HENRY DAVID THOREAU, a new three-hour film that premiered on PBS at the end of March. Set against the political and social tensions of the mid-19th century, the documentary traces Thoreau's journey from his early days in Concord, Massachusetts to his deep engagement with the moral crises of his time, including industrialization, slavery, war, and environmental degradation. Through his essays, journals, and landmark works such as Walden and Civil Disobedience, he became an inspiration for generations of writers, thinkers, and activists.
Raised in a small East Texas town, Henley was drawn to the sounds of exotic music broadcast from distant radio stations in New Orleans, Nashville, and Ciudad Acuna, Mexico. These stations introduced him to the blues, bluegrass, gospel, jazz, and rock and roll, paving the way for his future as an artist.
As a solo artist and member of the Eagles, Don Henley has received countless accolades, numerous gold and platinum records, and performed sold-out concert tours worldwide. A highly respected musical artist, Henley launched his solo career in 1982 with his debut album, I Can't Stand Still, featuring the hit single "Dirty Laundry." 1984's Building The Perfect Beast followed, and the artist's track record continued unabated with 1989's The End Of The Innocence. Henley is a founding member, drummer, vocalist, and songwriter of the Eagles.
In January 2026, the Eagles became the first band to earn Quadruple Diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of more than 40 million units (40x Platinum) of Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, which remains the best-selling album of all time. Additionally, the band's legendary album, Hotel California, has been re-certified 28x Platinum by the RIAA, scoring the third best-selling album of all time. Before it was certified multi-Diamond, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 was the first album ever to be certified Platinum by the RIAA.
The band's legacy continues onstage as the Eagles-Don Henley, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey-just set the record for longest-running Sphere residency with 58 sold-out performances since opening on September 20, 2024. Eagles - Live In Concert At Sphere offers a one-of-a-kind immersive concert experience that provides the ultimate connection to the band's legendary catalog. The band will launch The Long Goodbye, Act III in May with stadium dates in Atlanta, Nashville, and Arlington.
In the fall of 1971, the Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style, blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go on to become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time.
